True Friend … Eddie Holman … Memories!

This past Tuesday we celebrated an old friend’s birthday, Eddie Holman … and I posted a lot of photos and memories of days gone by. As I was reading through the responses, I saw one from Eddie… it said … “We have history, great memories and wonderful times my great and good friend” and it sent my mind into great memory mode. I/we have worked together many, many times over the years and some of my favorite memories on stage was working with and singing with Mr. Holman. From our days at the Emerald Room Theater to the Caribbean cruise ship to the stage at Three Rivers Stadium the good times and great memories keep coming up. But the thing I most love about this great singer is the compassion and friendship. Eddie is not only a phenomenal singer and entertainer he is a man with a big heart … I remember Eddie coming into Pittsburgh for my daughter (Rachael’s) wedding … he sang a song for her; he gave the blessing at Dinner (Eddie is also a minister) and shared in our celebration. Years later my wife (Marylou) had a liver transplant (thank you Sara) and we had a benefit concert for the Liver Alliance at the Roxian Theater. So many of my friends in the business volunteered to perform … the Shondells, Pete Hewlett, Jaggerz, William Dell and Wee Jams, the Elreys, Totally 80’s, Byron Nash and so many old Pittsburgh friend/musicians (please forgive me if I left out any names). I got a call from Eddie asking me all about it … he said … “I’ll be there” … did I mention that Eddie lives in Philadelphia and I’m in Pittsburgh! I have so many great memories of working with Eddie and the friendship we share. In a future Blog I need to share a story when we performed with the great Jerry Butler, Delfonics and Eddie Holman at the Bendum or Heinz Hall … as I said, the memories are like a treasure chest. Eddie is still preforming and traveling, I saw an ad last week with him appearing in a concert… his voice is still incredible! I can’t tell you how much I miss singing but I will never forget the memories. Thank you Mr. Eddie Holman … you are a one of a kind!
