From the first time I stepped onto a stage I knew that’s where I felt the most comparable. I feel at home when I’m on the stage. My children grew up in a musical environment so I guess it was no surprise that my daughter would become a Radio and Television personality and my son one of the best soundmen in the business. Let’s take it a step further… last week I went to see a production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” produced by the Youth Ministry of St. Theresa. My daughter Rachael’s daughter, Addie my Granddaughter, was part of the cast. I was looking forward to an entertaining stage play of the Classic and what I received was the surprise of my life! It was an unbelievable experience. I was so moved that it gave me chills to see a group of young people performing one of the most beautiful renditions of Jesus Christ Superstar! The acting and vocals were outstanding and the spirit from the talented cast entered my body and left me totally fulfilled. My Granddaughter came into her own … she transformed into this actor, singer, dancer that totally made me so proud! Where did all this come from? One day a fun-loving teen that enjoyed singing and acting turned into a mini-me on stage that exploded right in front of my eyes! I could see the joy and satisfaction in Addie … could see her confidence level expand … I heard the improvement in her vocal ability … I watched her dance with total precision … I saw her act like a seasoned veteran … at that point I knew that Addie found her home … on STAGE! I could see her passion for the stage and the theatrical environment that she connected with. It was like watching my life all over again. Seeing my daughter transform into a public figure on television, radio and social media and my son become a gifted sound engineer and now my granddaughter finding her happy place brought such joy into my life. Yep … I understand now the saying … “The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From the Tree” … and I thank God for the experience!
