This day, 21 years ago, let’s go back! July 4th, 2003 … “Back to the 50’s Weekend” … Cascade Park, New Castle, PA! One of my favorite weekends of my musical career … the celebration of our countries Independence… music, food, happy people, old cars, nostalgic setting an old amusement park. July 3rd thru the 6th … people from all over the planet here to celebrate, eat, dance, show off their cars and listen to some of the finest music Pennsylvania has to offer … The Jaggerz, Chuck Blacko and the Vogues, the great Eddie Holman and yours truly … Johnny Angel and the Halos! let me set the stage … as you approach the old Amusement Park in New Castle, you could feel the excitement brewing, the sounds of engines showing off their muscle car power, the smell of Hot Dogs, Sausage and Onions, even the sweet smell of Cotton Candy in the air and the thumping of music …Rock ‘n’ Roll Music … Oldies but Goodies … Happy Sounds! Rows of vendors throughout the park, nostalgia at its finest, it was a true throw back of the good old Happy Days! We, Johnny Angel and the Halos, were there with our old friend, Eddie Holman (Hey! There Lonely Girl and This Can’t Be True). The park was packed with friends and music fans … people of all age groups … young people and people who actually lived through the Fabulous Fifties. There here Hippies, Rockers, Greasers and Mods all together sharing the experience! No trouble, no fear, no hatred, no anger… just a bunch of people enjoying life together! The Fabulous Fifties had a way of rebuilding … a new era of music … a new sound … and it was relived this weekend! I’m not performing as much as I used to and reminiscing more than ever … music had a way of making things better! Have a safe and memorable Independence Day… God Bless!
